shortly after the invasion of Earth in 2350 SC-77 was tasked to build machines to counter the aliens war machines. the Avalanche was the second LDM (Large Defense Machine) to be produced. it was designed to be faster than it's heavier cousin The Devastator the original build after a few weeks of combat it was due for repairs and was given some minor upgrades to make the Second build. after the third upgrade to the Devastator it was though the avalanche had become surpassed by the superior firepower, so the next time the avalanche required an overhaul it was completely rebuilt into it's own third build the higher stance gave it more maneuverability but there were many faults in the system and so when it came back as just a torso SC-77 decided to redesign the entire mech again now the jets are located in the legs themselves while the torso was thinned out and fitted with the same rotating systems as the devastator, also the sword was replaced with a electromagnetic rail cannon

when the avalanche was designed it was built with speed and mobility in mind and was the preferred mech of the two systems, until the devastators third upgrade, giving it a huge advantage in heavy armor and fire power. now with it's more recent revision it is hoped to regain it's spot as the Superior mech.
the main weapon is a modified 40mm aircraft cannon salvaged from an organic war museum and refit for the avalanche's right arm, a ammo tube runs back to a ammo tank mounted on it's back
the left gun is a giant electromagnetic rail cannon that fires a 50kg tungsten slug that will punch straight through a building.
the left shoulder houses a 10 missile and 2 rocket pod system, although the quantity is considerably less than the devastator's the missiles are a higher explosive yield
the sonic weapon on the right shoulder mount was actually designed around an idea stemmed from the actual name of the mech, back when it was first designed a weapons test sent a building crumbling into a avalanche of concrete giving rise to it's name and now a sonic weapon while open the gun creates a giant sound pulse throwing anything not firmly attached to the ground flying hundreds of feet, when closed the blast is focused into a beam allowing more precise destruction.

I'd say that railgun wins a spot as one of the coolest weapons I've seen.
