So I've been doing a lot of browsing on Flickr and Pintrest and looking at the LEGO mechs there and here I also just re watched pacific rim as well as a lot of the extra content for it and again I am inspired by the detail work on the mechs
I would love to reflect a similar design style in my own creations but up until this point I have been focused on "functionality" as a major design input but have noticed that most of my creations tend to end up with limited passable stances due to the weight of the mechs
Ive had the thought to just limit joints to a minimum, enough for one pose and leave room for the added details I would like to play with adding
EDIT: so I kind of answered my own question/thing
i realized a bunch of the mechs i was looking at were constructed on a smaller scale
thus needing smaller joints and allowing for more detail filler,
i found a few built on the scale I'm used to (which is large as crap)
i'll probably stick to what I'm doing currently, and try to learn to integrate the joint better

LEGO Ideas (AT-MAW)
I've updated the photo of the AT-MAW to include the LEGO Ideas icon in the corner
hopefully this will help make it apparent that it could be supported without requiring the viewer to read the description (the horror!)
if you haven't already please go support it!
I hit 108 votes today so it's in for the long haul now!!!! :D

So I haven't had time to work on this yet, college started back up and there were tests... Also I just put 100+ hours into a dragon age: inquisition run and it doesn't look like I'm going to stop any time soon.
Ok so mechs,
First thing is to name it, and to do that I have to figure out if there is a difference between mech and mecha
I did look it up and technically its the same thing but generally they refer to eastern and western styles of mech design, however I've always seen it as more of a semantic kind of thing, were its almost the plural form, for example. You build a mech to add to your collection of mecha
Idk if anyone uses it that

So you'll build things that sit there and look nice. Like statues. Or cherry action figures.
